2008 was a very exciting year. My novel, 'Finding Margo' has been selling steadily through the past year and I am still being asked to do book talks which I enjoy enormously. I spoke to the Women's International Club in Dublin in January, a very well attended and enjoyable event. The Swedish embassy hosted an evening around my writing on March 4. It was organised by SWEA, (the Swedish Women's Educational Association), who have a branch in Ireland (www.chapters-swea.org/irland). I spoke in Swedish this time and all invited were fellow Swedes. It was a fantastic evening. I was so pleased to meet so many of my countrywomen and was touched by their enthusiasm and support. The food and wine were superb and a good time was had by all (especially me). Tack SWEA och Svenska Ambassaden! I have recently signed with a new literary agent, Bill Jeffrey (Bill.jeffrey@hotmail.co.uk) and we are looking forward to a happy and successful partnership. I have recently finished my latest project: 'A Woman's Place', a family saga based on the lives of two women in my family, set in Stockholm and New York in 1900 through to the 1930's. I really enjoy writing historical fiction and I have a feeling it will be the start of a new era in my writing career. It is now being considered by a number of publishers. I took part in The Ryan Tubridy show on March 4, 2009, which was very enjoyable. I will be giving a book talk at Cashel library on March 10, 2009. I'm looking forward to meeting yet more readers there. For more news please contact me at info@susanne-oleary.com |
